We’re excited to support you as you begin using your new Webmail email account with us. This guide explains how email sending works on shared hosting, what limits apply, and how to ensure your messages reach your audience reliably.
Our goal is simple: to help you communicate effectively while protecting your domain’s reputation and deliverability.
Why Email Sending Limits Exist
All shared hosting environments, including ours, use automated protections called rate limits. These limits prevent any single account from sending too many emails too quickly.
These protections help:
- Prevent your domain from being flagged as spam
- Ensure reliable delivery for all clients
- Maintain the server’s reputation
- Reduce the risk of blacklisting
These limits are standard across the industry and apply to all Webmail accounts.
What Webmail Is Designed For
Your Webmail account is perfect for:
- ✅ Small group emails
- ✅ Internal team messages
- ✅ One‑to‑one communication
- ✅ Occasional announcements to a small list
It is not designed for:
- ❌ Newsletters
- ❌ Community blasts
- ❌ Mass announcements
- ❌ Repeated bulk sending
- ❌ Email marketing campaigns
Attempting to send large batches of emails, even in smaller groups, can trigger automatic blocks or “rate limiting.”
Our Server-Level Email Sending Limits
Below are the most relevant limits currently configured on our shared hosting servers:
| Setting | Current Value | What It Means for You |
|---|---|---|
| Email delivery retry time | 15 minutes | If an email fails, the server retries every 15 minutes until it succeeds or times out. |
| Max hourly emails per domain | Unlimited (default) | Although this shows as “unlimited,” Exim still enforces silent throttling and spam detection. |
| Unique recipients per hour (spam trigger) | System‑controlled | Sending to too many unique recipients in a short time may trigger spam protection. |
| Track email origin via X‑Source headers | Enabled | Helps identify the source of outbound messages for abuse prevention. |
| SMTP authentication required | Yes | Emails must be sent using proper SMTP authentication for best deliverability. |

Even when limits appear “unlimited,” the server still enforces:
1. Burst‑Rate Throttling

- This simply means the server slows you down if you try to send too many emails too quickly.
- It’s like a traffic light: If too many cars rush through at once, the light turns red to prevent a pile‑up.
Why it matters:
- Sending large batches too fast can make your domain look like a spammer, so the server automatically spaces things out.
2. Spam Heuristics
This is the server’s built‑in “spam detector.” It scans outgoing emails for patterns that look suspicious, for example:
- Identical messages sent to many people
- Missing authentication (SPF/DKIM)
- Messages with certain keywords
- Emails sent in rapid bursts
Why it matters:
- If your message looks like spam, the server may block it to protect your domain reputation.
3. Bulk‑Send Pattern Detection
This protection watches for behavior that resembles mass emailing, such as:
- Repeating the same message over and over
- Sending to many different recipients in a short time
- Sending to long lists of Gmail/Hotmail/Yahoo addresses
Why it matters:
- Webmail is designed for everyday communication, not newsletters.
- When the system detects “newsletter‑like” activity, it may stop the emails from going out.
4. IP Reputation Scoring
Every server has a “reputation score,” similar to a credit score. If too many bulk emails are sent from the same server:
- Outlook may block it
- Gmail may distrust it
- Yahoo may send everything to spam
Why it matters:
- Even if your email is legitimate, sending too many messages can hurt the server’s reputation and affect everyone using it.
5. Silent Drops for Suspicious Messages
Sometimes the server quietly discards an email without sending a bounce message. This happens when:
- The message looks unsafe
- The sending pattern resembles spam
- The server is protecting itself from blacklisting
Why it matters:
- You may not receive an error, but the email never reaches the recipient.
- This is why bulk sending from Webmail is unreliable.
Recommended Sending Limits for Webmail

If you must send multiple emails from Webmail, please follow these conservative guidelines:
- 20–50 emails per hour
- Space batches 10–30 minutes apart
- Stop immediately if you receive bounce‑backs or “undeliverable” notices
These limits are not restrictions we manually set. They are built‑in protections on all shared hosting servers worldwide.
Why Bulk Emails Bounce or Fail
Bulk emails may fail due to:
- Server rate limiting
- Bulk‑send detection
- Sending too many emails too quickly
- Repeated sending patterns that resemble spam
- Poor IP reputation (common on shared hosting)
- Missing or incorrect SPF/DKIM/DMARC authentication
When this happens, the emails are rejected before they ever reach your recipients.
